Jaipur sits in the Thar Desert region, which means extreme temperature swings across the year. Timing your visit right makes a huge difference to how comfortable your trip actually is.

October to March: Peak Season

This is Jaipur at its best — daytime temperatures in the comfortable 20–28°C range, cool evenings, clear skies. December and January can get genuinely cold at night (single digits), so pack layers if you're visiting then. This is also when prices peak, especially around major festivals and the winter wedding season, so book stays a few weeks ahead.

Best for: comfortable sightseeing, outdoor exploring, photography.

April to June: Peak Summer

Temperatures regularly cross 40°C, sometimes touching 45°C in May and June. Walking around the Old City during the day becomes genuinely difficult. If you're visiting in this window, plan sightseeing for early morning and evening, and prioritise stays with reliable air conditioning — don't assume every budget listing has it working well.

Best for: budget deals (prices drop noticeably), but only for travellers comfortable with serious heat.

July to September: Monsoon

Rain is inconsistent but can be heavy when it comes, and humidity rises. Jaipur isn't as monsoon-affected as coastal India, but sudden showers can disrupt outdoor plans. The upside is greener surroundings and fewer crowds at major sights.

Best for: travellers who don't mind unpredictable weather and want lower prices with fewer tourists.
