Jaipur has enough to fill a week, but three days is a solid amount of time to cover its highlights without feeling rushed. Here's a practical day-by-day plan.

Day 1: The Old City

Start early at Hawa Mahal to catch good morning light and avoid crowds. From there, walk to City Palace and spend a couple of hours exploring its courtyards and museums. Right next door, visit Jantar Mantar, the astronomical observatory — an hour is usually enough.

In the afternoon, wander through Johari Bazaar and Bapu Bazaar for textiles, jewellery, and street food. End the day with dinner at a rooftop restaurant overlooking the Old City — many properties in this area have one, and sunset views over the Pink City are worth planning around.

Day 2: The Forts

Head to Amer Fort early — ideally before 9 AM to beat both heat and tour groups. Give it a proper 2–3 hours to explore courtyards, halls, and the mirror-work Sheesh Mahal. On the way back, stop at Panna Meena ka Kund, a striking stepwell just a short detour from the fort.

In the late afternoon, head to Nahargarh Fort for sunset — the hilltop views over Jaipur are one of the best free experiences in the city. Have dinner back in the city, ideally trying a proper Rajasthani thali if you haven't already.

Day 3: Culture and Local Life

Spend the morning at Albert Hall Museum in Ram Niwas Garden, a quieter alternative to the busier forts. Follow this with a visit to Jal Mahal for photos — you can't go inside, but it's a quick, worthwhile stop.

If you have energy left, an evening at Chokhi Dhani rounds out the trip well — traditional food, folk performances, and a fun, family-friendly atmosphere very different from the historical sightseeing of the previous two days.

Practical Notes

• Book Amer Fort tickets online in advance during peak season (Nov–Feb) to skip long queues
• Autos and cabs are the easiest way to get between sights; agree on a fare or use a metered app before starting
• Carry water and sun protection year-round — Jaipur's heat can catch first-timers off guard even outside summer

Three days gives you enough time to see Jaipur properly without turning the trip into a checklist sprint — leave room to just sit at a rooftop cafe and take the city in.
